Obstacles are Evidence That You Are Growing
While driving down the freeway, this morning, I observed numerous motorcycles splitting traffic, with speed and accuracy. The slow or stopped traffic, didn't slow them down. I observed cars and trucks, maneuvering carefully, and with less ease and less speed. As I looked around, I noticed that the big rigs were almost fixed to their lane, avoiding the many obstacles, of cars, trucks and motorcycles. I thought for a moment, of how much this was like a metaphor. Consider this: when you were small, you got around very easily. Running through and around, with speed and energy. Not many obstacles in your way. As a career person, new to your career, while you are small, you get around quite easily, but you require more direction and guidance, to successfully get to where you want to go. As a child, you count the many things you will do, when you get big. The same goes for you in your career. When I get big, when I am a top agent, when I grow this career... The bigger you get, the more obstacles that will get in your way. It's just natural. These obstacles are not bad. They are essential in learning and in success. The bigger you get, the stronger your drive, and more demanding your path. There may be stalls. There will be hurdles. There will be obstacles. But that just means that you are growing. That just means you are successful. The next time you feel like there are obstacles in your path to success, remind yourself that you must be doing something right. If traffic is light, and nothing is in your way, consider the road you are driving on, and decide if the challenge is appropriate for the caliber in which you strive to drive.
